The match between the Philadelphia Flyers and Vancouver Canucks will take place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday, October 15 at 4:00 PM ET.
The Philadelphia Flyers will welcome the Vancouver Canucks to the Wells Fargo Center for an NHL game on Saturday. Philadelphia won their first game against the New Jersey Devils 5-2 as two goals each from Morgan Frost and Travis Konecny and one goal from Wade Allison sealed the deal.
Philadelphia signed defenceman Travis Sanheim to an eight-year, $50 million contract extension and he was over the moon. Travis said, “Obviously, I’m really excited. It’s a huge day not only for me, but for my family and friends as well. To be drafted not only by Philly, but in Philly, and now to sign a long-term deal here, it means a lot. I love this city, love the fan base and I’m excited to turn this around and get things going. There’s no better place to win than Philly.”
The Vancouver Canucks on the other hand lost their first game of the season 5-3 against the Edmonton Oilers. JT Miller, Andrei Kuzmenko and Elias Pettersson scored the goals for Vancouver as they fell short by two goals.
Bo Horvat who is the captain of the Canucks reflected on the loss and said after the game, “That stings a little bit, but I thought we did a lot of good things 5-on-5, and for a majority of the game, we carried the play and out-chanced them 5-on-5, but our power play let us down a little bit tonight. We preached on having a good start and I think that’s kind of what we lacked a little bit last year, we were getting off to bad starts. I thought we played great, but when they get those power-play goals. It kind of stings a little bit, but for the most part, I thought we played really well 5-on-5.”
