The future isn’t looking good, but maybe traveling can help the team rediscover its groove. After placing sixth in the Metropolitan Division previous season, the Islanders were unable to advance. Lou Lamoriello’s brand of hockey couldn’t save the Islanders from their dismal start to the season, which began with a protracted road trip and the completion of UBS Arena.
Scott Mayfield and Robin Salo, two defensemen, each scored twice in New York’s 7-1 thrashing of the Anaheim Ducks over the weekend, while goaltender Ilya Sorokin stopped 22 of 23 Ducks attempts. Timo Meier and Mario Ferraro are both regarded as day-to-day with ailments, although both played the full amount of minutes this weekend. The season debut of Alexander Barabanov has been on the verge of happening, and it may happen this week. The Islanders have been suffering with injuries, and Sebastian Aho (not that one) was placed on injured reserve retroactively on October 8; but, if he is fit enough, he might return on Tuesday.
