The Minnesota Wild (7-6-2) had a two-game winning streak come to an end, but they still increased their current point streak to three games (2-0-1) after suffering a 3-2 shootout loss to the San Jose Sharks at Xcel Energy Center on Sunday. At the start of the third period, Connor Dewar (1 goal, 5 points) made it 2-0 for the Wild before San Jose scored twice in less than two minutes to force overtime. San Jose eventually won the skills competition with two snipes to one. For Minnesota, Kirill Kaprizov (10 goals, 17 points) scored in the penalty shootout.
The Nashville Predators (6-8-1) got their current five-game homestand off to a winning start, snapping a two-game losing streak (0-2-0) with a 2-1 victory against the New York Rangers on Saturday at Bridgestone Arena.
A seventh-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, Juuso Parssinen (1 goal, 1 point this year), scored in his NHL debut before Mark Jankowski (2 goals, 3 points) scored the game-winning goal in the second period. The Blueshirts were only able to react with a single goal just seconds later. Nashville won for the third time in its last five games (3-2-0) despite being outshot 35-18, moving up to 2-1-0 in its most recent three domestic games.
