The game between the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets will take place at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado on Wednesday, October 19 at 8:00 PM ET.
The Colorado Avalanche will welcome the Winnipeg Jets to the Ball Arena for an NHL game on Wednesday. Defending champions, Avalanche won their last game 6-3 over the Minnesota Wild. Goals from Nathan MacKinnon, Valeri Nichushkin, Samuel Girard, Josh Manson, Ben Meyers and Mikko Rantanen scored the goals as Colorado won the game with ease.
Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar spoke after the game and stressed that for the team to be successful, the younger guys have to step up in the near future. Speaking after the game, Bednar said, “All of our big guys have been kind of carrying the load here so far. Hopefully we’ll be able to spread it out here a little bit as we go on.”
The Winnipeg Jets on the other hand lost their first game of the season 4-1 to the Dallas Star and it was an embarrassing show. Mark Scheifele was the only outfield player to score a goal as none of the others got on the scoresheet. Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger was in inspired form as he saved 24 of the 25 shots he faced and finished the game with a .960 save percentage.
Jets Center Adam Lowry said that there were a lot of areas where they need to improve. Speaking after the game, Lowry said, “We didn’t have enough guys around to make it difficult in case there was a rebound. There are a lot of areas we’re going to improve upon. It’s the second game, we’re disappointed with the result and we know we can play better. There is a lot of room for us to improve and we’re looking forward to that.”
