The Philadelphia Flyers (9-13-6) were doomed to suffer their second straight loss (0-1-1) after falling to the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1 in overtime at T-Mobile Arena on Friday to begin their current four-game road trip. The Flyers were outshot 34–28 in Sin City, but they killed both of their penalties, stopped 22 shots, and outhit Vegas 40–23.
The Flyers eventually tied the game at 1–1 at the start of the second period, but the hosts came back to win at 3:21 of the extra period. Scott Laughton scored for Philadelphia, which has lost four of its last five games (1-3-1), and only twice in its last 16 contests. Laughton has four goals and ten points this season (2-10-4).
The Arizona Coyotes (8-13-4) defeated the Boston Bruins 4-3 on Friday at Mullet Arena to snap their ugly 19-game losing run (0-18-1) and claim their first victory in the past seven games (1-4-2). The ‘Yotes, who last defeated the B’s on October 9, 2010, led 3-2 in the third period before Boston tied the score while on the man advantage.
With 14 seconds left on the clock, Lawson Crouse, who has 12 goals and 15 points this season, then scored his second snipe of the game to seal the victory. Nick Schmaltz (4 goals, 5 points), Josh Brown (3 goals, 4 points), and other scorers contributed to Arizona’s victory, which was just its second victory in its previous 12 games (2-7-3).
