The OKC Thunder will play the Dallas Mavericks at the BOK Center for an NBA preseason game on Wednesday. OKC Thunder started their preseason well as they won their first game 112-101 against the Denver Nuggets. Tre Mann had a great game as he dropped 17 points while Aaron Wiggins scored 15. Josh Giddey was the star as he scored 14 points and had 12 rebounds and 9 assists in what was a comprehensive win for the OKC Thunder.
The OKC Thunder drafted Chet Holmgren as the second overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft. He impressed in the Summer League but got injured in a pro-am game. Despite not practicing with the first team, Holmgren has left a lasting impression on his team mates. “He’s a great guy. I can already feel a connection with me and the rest of the team. He’s a pretty vocal guy, too. He talks a lot, and that’s good for the team,” said Lu Dort.
On the other hand, for the Dallas Mavericks, this will be their first preseason game. The Mavs had a great season last time as Luka Doncic inspired them to the Western Conference finals where they were beaten by eventual winners Golden State Warriors. Despite the setback, they will aim to make a comeback and make it further this time around.
The Mavericks did not have a great off season as they did not make any big moves and lost Jalen Brunson to the New York Knicks. They did however sign Javala McGee as a free agent and he will no doubt bring his expertise to this young team given he has won the NBA title during his time with the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers.
Chet Holmgren will not play as he underwent surgery to address a Linsfranc injury which he suffered in August.
