Following the New York Knicks’ ascent to a 14-1 record against teams with subpar standings, Julius Randle offered a glimpse into the team’s mindset.

Carrying a season-best four-game winning streak, Randle and the Knicks gear up for another clash against a team with a subpar record on Tuesday night as they play host to the Portland Trail Blazers. The Trail Blazers, fresh from one of their most impressive victories of the season, will be the next challenge for the surging Knicks.

The Knicks’ lone loss to a team with a record below .500 occurred in a 117-113 setback to the Utah Jazz at the outset of a five-game road journey on December 13. However, since that defeat, New York has emerged victorious in their last three matchups against sub-.500 opponents, securing wins over the Brooklyn Nets on December 20, along with convincing triumphs over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday and a wire-to-wire victory against the Wizards on Saturday, amassing a combined 51-point margin in these victories.

In the Saturday matchup, Randle showcased his scoring prowess by making 13 of 23 shots and equaled a season-best achievement by reaching the free-throw line 13 times.

In addition to Randle’s standout performance in the recent game, Jalen Brunson contributed 33 points, connecting on 10 of 18 shots. Brunson has demonstrated impressive accuracy, shooting at a rate of 56.7 percent (34 of 60) in his last three games, rebounding from a less efficient 5-of-23 showing against the Minnesota Timberwolves on January 1.

Following a remarkable 36-point victory in Philadelphia the previous night, the Knicks secured another win in Washington. They commanded a lead of up to 26 points against the Wizards, although they experienced a slight setback, allowing the lead to diminish to five points in the third quarter.
