Following a real nail-biter on Sunday, with the Philadelphia 76ers barely clinching a 79-73 win against the New York Knicks, both squads are gearing up for a rematch in New York on Tuesday night. It’s going to be another intense showdown!

Sunday’s game was a rare one in NBA history. It was the first time since Denver’s 78-74 victory over Minnesota back on Jan. 6, 2016, that both teams scored fewer than 80 points. Quite the low-scoring affair!

Both squads are itching for redemption come Tuesday, especially the Knicks. They had their worst offensive performance since 2018, and it was actually the lowest scoring game by any NBA team this season. They’re definitely hungry to bounce back strong.

Even though they’ve been dealing with a bunch of injuries, both New York and Philadelphia are still grinding hard to secure their spots in the playoffs and climb up the rankings in the Eastern Conference. They’re not letting anything hold them back!

Injury report

For the Knicks, Anunoby (elbow injury), Randle (shoulder injury), and Robinson (ankle injury) will not play the game. As for the 76ers, Covington (knee injury), Embiid (knee injury), Maxey (concussion), and Melton (back injury) will sit this one out.

Key matchups

The Knicks are up 2-1 in their head-to-head matchups this season, but the Sixers are gunning to level the playing field in their last regular-season clash.

Philadelphia had to get creative without their main scorers, Tyrese Maxey sidelined with a concussion and Joel Embiid nursing a knee injury. On top of that, Robert Covington and De’Anthony Melton are both grappling with long-term injuries. Tough breaks all around.

Embiid and Maxey together put up an impressive 61.3 points per game. Interestingly, before the Sixers secured their win against New York on Sunday, they hadn’t managed to snag a single victory this season when both Embiid and Maxey were out.

Kelly Oubre Jr. from Philadelphia doesn’t think we’ll see another low-scoring showdown on Tuesday and dropped a hint that Maxey might be making a comeback.

Having Maxey back on the court would give the Sixers a much-needed lift. He’s been putting up solid numbers, averaging 26.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. The team has definitely felt his absence since their win against Dallas on March 3; they’ve gone 1-3 without him.
