The New York Knicks will welcome the Detroit Pistons to Madison Square Garden for an NBA preseason game on Tuesday. After having a great season in 2020 where they finished in fourth place on the Eastern Conference table, the Knicks were not able to carry on from there last season. They finished in 11th place with 37 wins and 45 losses and missed the play-in tournament in what capped off a disappointing season.
The Knicks had a good off season as they added point guard Jalen Brunson from the Dallas Mavericks. They also signed RJ Barrett to a rookie extension and will hope that the aforementioned duo along with Julius Randle will help them get back to the top and make the playoffs this season.
The Detroit Pistons had a terrible 2021/22 season as they finished in 14th place in the Eastern Conference as they recorded just 23 wins and lost 59 times. They clearly had some issues last season and they were not quite able to get to speed. However, this season, they will want to forget what happened last season and start off on a good note and they have signed a few players that will help them on their way.
The Pistons picked up Jaden Ivey as the 5th overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft and they will hope that the young guard will lead them to bigger things. To complement the youth, Detroit also signed an old guard in the form of Bojan Bogdanovic from the Utah Jazz. In the process of acquiring Bogdanovic, the Pistons sent Saban Lee and Kelly Olynk the other way.
