The Minnesota Timberwolves are on a roll with four straight wins on the road as they head into Thursday’s game against the Indiana Pacers in Indianapolis. But they’ll be facing a tough start to their six-game road stretch as forward/center Karl-Anthony Towns won’t be playing due to soreness in his left knee.

The Timberwolves wrapped up their last road trip with four wins out of five games at the beginning of last month. Then, they had a seven-game homestand, where they finished with a 4-3 record, ending on Monday against Portland.

Rudy Gobert stepped up big time in Minnesota’s 119-114 victory against the Trail Blazers, scoring 25 points, grabbing 16 rebounds, and blocking three shots. His performance was crucial, especially with Towns dealing with foul trouble and Anthony Edwards arriving late and not starting the game.

Key matchups

Gobert really made the most out of his chances, shooting 9-for-10 from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line. Now, with Towns out, he’s going to have to step up once more against the Pacers.

Towns and Edwards were absolute beasts in Minnesota’s 127-109 win against Indiana on December 16th. Towns went off for 40 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Edwards chipped in with an impressive 37 points for the Timberwolves.

However, Indiana’s star player Tyrese Haliburton sat out that game with a bruised knee. He’s been leading the team in both points, averaging 20.8, and assists, averaging 11.3. But Haliburton bounced back strong on Tuesday, scoring 19 points and dishing out 11 assists as the Pacers snagged a 137-120 win over the Dallas Mavericks to wrap up their three-game road trip.

Myles Turner went off in the first half, dropping all 20 of his points, while Pascal Siakam put up a solid all-around performance with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists for Indiana. The team had a balanced scoring attack with nine players hitting double digits.
