The Miami Heat wrap up their four-game road trip on Wednesday as they face the Cleveland Cavaliers. Both teams are battling for playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. Despite dealing with a series of injuries lately, Cleveland is currently sitting in the third spot in the East following their 108-103 win over Indiana.

Caris LeVert came close to a triple-double with 23 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds, while Jarrett Allen contributed 23 points and nine rebounds. It was a noteworthy performance considering the Cavaliers were missing their usual starters Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Max Strus.

Strus hasn’t played since March 3 because of a knee injury and won’t be available for Wednesday’s game. Mobley is also out due to an ankle sprain he suffered on March 5, and he’s expected to be sidelined for a while.

Meanwhile, Mitchell, who leads the team in scoring this season with an average of 27.4 points per game, made his return on March 13 after missing seven games due to a knee bone bruise.

Key matchups

Miami arrives in Cleveland for the first of two games against the Cavs this week. They’ll face off again in Miami on Sunday. The Heat currently hold the eighth spot in the East.

Although they managed to break a four-game losing streak with consecutive victories over Detroit last Friday and Sunday, they stumbled to a 98-91 loss on Monday against Philadelphia.

Miami’s last three victories, going back to March 5, were all against Detroit. They haven’t managed to defeat a team with a winning record since their 121-110 victory over Sacramento on February 26. During that time, they were on fire, winning seven out of eight games.

Despite their recent setbacks, the Heat are just one game behind Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference standings, making the sixth spot a desirable position to avoid the play-in tournament.

The Heat have their fair share of injury problems, with Tyler Herro sidelined due to a foot injury. Herro, who averages 20.8 points per game, hasn’t played since February 23. Additionally, Jimmy Butler, who leads the team with averages of 21.4 points and 1.4 steals per game, sat out the last two games due to his own foot injury.
