The Brooklyn Nets are going up against the Grizzlies, aiming to make it three wins in a row. In their last two games, they’ve been doing exactly what their coach, Kevin Ollie, has been asking for: playing solid defense and scoring enough points. This has led to their first winning streak in more than a month.

After securing two crucial victories against the Atlanta Hawks, the Nets are now aiming for their first three-game winning streak in almost three months. They’ll be taking on the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night in New York.

The Nets have won two games in a row for the first time since they defeated the Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz on Jan. 27 and Jan. 29, respectively. Before their victory against the Hawks, Brooklyn had lost nine out of 12 games, including a 50-point loss in Boston on Feb. 14. This led to Kevin Ollie replacing the fired Jacque Vaughn on Feb. 20.

Brooklyn is now just two games behind Atlanta, who currently holds the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference and the final play-in berth. This comes after the Nets’ 124-97 win on Thursday was followed by a 114-102 victory on Saturday.

Key matchups

The Nets are aiming for their fourth three-game winning streak of the season. The last time they achieved this was from December 2nd to 8th, during a period when they won six out of seven games. So far, they haven’t managed to win four games in a row this season.

Despite some losses, the Nets have been stepping up their defense recently. In Kevin Ollie’s interim debut in Toronto on Feb. 22, they allowed 121 points, including 46 fastbreak points. However, in the last five games, they’ve only allowed an average of 98.8 points and just 38 fastbreak points in the past four games.

The Nets are going up against the Grizzlies for the second time in a week. In their previous meeting last Monday in Memphis, they easily won 111-86, with seven players scoring in double figures.

Memphis is currently on a five-game losing streak and has lost 14 of its last 16 games. If they lose their next game, it will be their first losing season since 2019-20. Nine of their losses in this 16-game stretch have been by single digits, including their most recent game, a 107-100 overtime loss at home to the Portland Trail Blazers.
