Before
their game on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies, two of the Brooklyn Nets’ top players, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, might not be fully healthy.

Due to a calf injury, the All-Star guard for the Nets, Doncic, has missed the team’s last two games. The team’s point guard, Irving, has been sidelined with a knee issue and has only recently resumed working out. On Wednesday, an evaluation of both players will take place before the game.

The Nets have been one of the NBA’s hottest teams this season, currently sitting in second place in the Eastern Conference standings. Their success has been largely credited to Doncic and Irving, who, respectively, average 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists per game and 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists per game.

Without their two star players, the Nets have little chance of defeating the Grizzlies, who have won five out of their last six games. Even though the Nets heavily rely on their depth to cover for their injured players, success is doubtful.

Even though it won’t be known until closer to tip-off whether Doncic and Irving can play until Wednesday, the Nets are still hoping they can. If they are unable to play, the Nets will need to rely on other players to step in for them.

Kyrie Irving performance in 2022-23 session

Kyrie Irving had yet another fantastic season in 2022–2023. He averaged 26.8 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.07 rebounds per contest in addition to shooting a career-high 47.7 percent from the field. He made a big contribution to the Brooklyn Nets’ success by aiding them in finishing second in the Eastern Conference. In addition, he participated in his sixth All-Star Game and was initially selected as an All-Star starter. Irving put on a standout performance during the NBA playoffs, averaging 27 points, 4 assists, and a remarkable 51 percent field goal percentage. He was a key factor in the Brooklyn Nets’ ability to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks. Irving is still one of the league’s top point guards, as evidenced by his performance this year.
