The Milwaukee Bucks are itching to bounce back after their winning streak was halted. They’re hitting the road for a four-game trip in California, and first up is a clash with the Lakers in Los Angeles.

Under their new head coach Doc Rivers, the Bucks are starting to find their rhythm, but their six-game winning streak took a hit with a 125-90 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.

Lately, the Bucks have been bringing some serious energy on defense. During their winning streak, they didn’t let any team score over 107 points, and they even held four opponents to less than 100.

The Warriors paved their way to victory by hitting an impressive 48.7 percent from beyond the arc, making 19 out of 39 attempts. Steph Curry led the charge with 29 points, sinking 6 out of 10 from downtown. This marked the fourth-best shooting performance from three-point range by a team against Milwaukee, with three of the top four occurrences happening since Rivers took over on January 29th.

Key matchups

Giannis Antetokounmpo put up 23 points, bouncing back after sitting out Monday’s win against the Los Angeles Clippers due to left Achilles tendinitis. Damian Lillard and Bobby Portis each added 20 points to the scoreboard. Unfortunately, the Bucks were missing Khris Middleton for the 12th game in a row due to an ankle injury.

Milwaukee struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 28.2 percent, despite taking the same number of attempts as Golden State. Overall, they shot 38.2 percent from the field.

The Lakers got a beating on Wednesday too. They started strong, taking a 19-point lead in the first quarter against the Sacramento Kings. But they lost their grip before halftime, and ended up falling 130-120, trailing by as much as 22 points at one stage. The team’s defense was all over the place, especially with Anthony Davis dealing with foul trouble.

LeBron James led the Lakers with 31 points, but he had to head to the locker room with about four minutes left due to soreness in his left ankle. It’s uncertain if he’ll be good to go for Friday’s game.
