NBA legend LeBron James stands up for his kid Bronny against rumors about his basketball career in an open social media statement. As Bronny James makes his way through his first year at USC, LeBron uses X to respond to the rumors and stress the value of perseverance.

Bronny’s Draft Projection Stirring Controversy

Bronny James dropped from the NBA mock draft for 2024 and was projected for the 2025 selection by ESPN, and the excitement around him reached a fever pitch. The young player’s prospects of playing professional basketball were called into question by the relocation.

Known for his skill on the field and his activism outside of it, LeBron James vented his annoyance in a since-deleted X post. LeBron wants the public to let Bronny enjoy his time playing college basketball. His path will be determined by his work ethic and accomplishments.

Can yall please just let the kid be a kid and enjoy college basketball. The work and results will ultimately do the talking no matter what he decides to do. If y’all don’t know he doesn’t care what a mock draft says, he just WORKS! Earned Not Given!” LeBron wrote.

LeBron’s Stand on Bronny’s Work Ethic

LeBron James downplays the importance of mock drafts, emphasizing that Bronny’s main concern is working hard and not letting expectations get in the way. The NBA star emphasizes the value of perseverance and hard work, stressing that the amount of effort put in is the only thing that counts.

“And to all the other kids out there striving to be great just keep your head down, blinders on and keep grinding. These Mock Drafts doesn’t matter one bit! I promise you! Only the WORK MATTERS!! Let’s talk REAL BASKETBALL PEOPLE!” LeBron’s post continued.

ESPN NBA Draft expert Jonathan Givony discusses Bronny James’ path while pointing out the difficulties he encountered. Givony draws attention to the serious setback that Bronny’s heart attack during a USC exercise in July 2023 produced. Givony believes Bronny has a chance to bounce back big in his sophomore season despite the setback.

LeBron James responds to those who questioned Bronny’s early success and discusses his son’s resiliency following a health crisis. “The kid was standing tall and standing strong at the end of the game, and that is a blessing in its own right, and that is a win,” LeBron responds to the doubters.
