Lakers trade rumors: What a potential LeBron James' trade deal would look like

The Lakers must trade LeBron James if they want to win another title and escape years of mediocrity.

This season has been a nightmare for the Los Angeles Lakers, and there seem to be some internal conflicts between the franchise’s face, LeBron James, and management. Rob Pelinka allegedly declined to exchange the first-round pick in a Russell Westbrook-John Wall transaction (which was the right choice). LeBron James and Klutch Sports are unhappy.

During the 2022 NBA All-Star Break, all of this was scrutinized. LeBron, who is usually astute about what he says and when he says it, made some fascinating comments during media appearances. He spoke a lot about playing with his kid, Bronny, wherever that was. This is the same person who previously said that he would conclude his career in Los Angeles. He is clearly putting pressure on the Lakers.

This has sparked considerable trade speculation among NBA analysts. Some predict that the Lakers will move LeBron James this summer, either because of a power struggle and a desire to cut bait or because LeBron wants out.

It’s worth noting that LeBron’s contract will be up at the end of this season. Without a trade clause in his deal, the Lakers could conceivably take away his authority and send him away if he refuses an extension.

If Laker shocks the world by trading LeBron James

Even as a major LeBron James fan, I have to agree that it would be must-see TV to see a club finally stick it to LeBron, not give in and make terrible decisions that put the organization back many years, and instead sell him for assets.

What’s the harm? If the Lakers can’t trade Westbrook before the summer, they won’t be able to compete. If they are certain that LeBron will leave after the 2022-23 season, they may just pull the plug, obtain a large return for him, and rebuild.

Because of the feud with Kobe Bryant, they traded Shaquille O’Neal in his prime. Because of the schism with the front staff, they may do the same with LeBron James. If

Some potential trade deals

Trade LeBron James to Washington

The Washington Wizards are one club that the Lakers might contact. Bradley Beal has the option to opt-out of his contract this summer and accepts a supermax contract with the Wizards, which would pay him handsomely. While Beal is an exceptional player, the Wizards have yet to win a championship with him, and you can’t blame the organization for being cautious to sign him to a large deal, particularly because they aren’t a popular free-agent destination.

That is why, if the Lakers call with a sign-and-trade deal including LeBron and Beal, the Wizards may seize the opportunity as their last shot to win a championship with the second-best player in NBA history.

Trade to Boston Celtics

With LeBron James and Tatum, the Celtics would be a legitimate NBA Finals contender. Sure, the Lakers would want Tatum in exchange, but in order to close this trade, the franchise would most likely have to accept the inferior young star.

Brown isn’t a great star yet, but he’s young and one of the league’s finest defensive wings. If you know LeBron is departing after a year and you aren’t going to win the championship anyway, trading him for a young all-star, one of the league’s top role players, and three unprotected first-round selections isn’t too bad.

Trade to Nuggets

This would result in the greatest team and a move that LeBron James would probably approve of. While it would be less than ideal to watch him prosper on another Western Conference club, it is irrelevant if the Lakers are not planning on competing next season. Accept the finest deal.

The Nuggets are unquestionably a club interested in acquiring LeBron James. They have one of the finest players in the league in Nikola Jokic, but not enough around him to win a championship. When you combine him with LeBron James, the Nuggets become the overwhelming favorite to win the NBA Championship.
