The Golden State Warriors are on a four-game winning streak, and it looks like the splash-brothers are back better than ever. Stephen Curry is in an MVP-pace season, and Klay Thompson is back to his old self. Klay Thompson struggled in the first 15 games as he averaged 15.1PPG on 35.1 FG% and 33 3P% shooting efficiency. In his Last four games, he averaged 24.8 PTS on 52.3 FG% and 54.8 3P% shooting split. After the Phoenix game, there was a change in Klay Thompson’s demeanor on the court. He was much more efficient and was not pulling the string short on his jumpers. Klay Thompson said, “I think in the first couple of weeks of the season, I was a little trigger-happy; any little inch of space, to me, that’s open. But now realizing I have such great teammates, let’s play off them, let’s get great shots…” In the last four games, Klay has put up a 41-point performance with ten three-pointers and multiple 20-point games. According to Klay, the Warriors team meeting helped him get out of his slump. With the Warriors back at .500, Klay Thompson is only one of two players to hit six threes in a half multiple times this season. He’s done this twice in the last three games!

How Thompson found his way out of his slump

After the Warriors beat Utah Jazz, Klay put up Four third quarter 3s. He’s 21-of-38 from deep in the last four games. He’s jolted his season 3pt percentage from 33 to 38.5 percent. Thompson’s astronomical rise in the last five games can be attributed to the Warriors team meeting and his constructive response to criticism on social media. Klay said “I don’t know what I was thinking, my 12th year in the league. I’ve been through this before, but I had a moment of weakness. But learning to focus on the games and days, not looking too far ahead. You’ll enjoy the run so much more.

That’s what I’ve been doing the last couple weeks rather than after a game, going on social media and checking your mentions.” According to Klay, he just needed to trust his teammates and needed focus on getting good looks. Many NBA analysts called Klay ‘washed’. Shaquille O’Neal himself called out his haters and said that Klay deserves an apology from everyone that doubted him.

Klay Thompson is the key to the Warrior’s winning ways

Steve Kerr credits Klay Thompson’s play as of late for the Warriors’ recent play. According to the Golden State Warriors coach, when Klay is really patient and coming off screens and moving it when he’s not open, then the dominoes really start to fall. Steve Kerr also said he thinks the Warriors are settling into the season. Kerr said, “I think Klay settling in the last few games and the ball moving better has, in turn, given our team a good vibe.” The main problem for the Warriors is winning on the road. They are 7-3 in their last ten games; however, they have only won one game on the road. Hopefully, with Klay finding form and Stephen Curry adding to the MVP-level season he is having, the Warriors will find their winning groove.
