The Memphis Grizzlies were one of the most impressive teams in the NBA last season. They had a roster filled with talented youngsters and that helped them finish second in the Western Conference. Led by Ja Morant, the Grizzlies continued their impressive run in the playoffs by beating the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round. They then took on the Golden State Warriors in the second round. Although the young team gave in their best, they were bested by an experienced Golden State Warriors team.

Going into the 2022-23 season, the Memphis Grizzlies will be looking to keep their playoff setback from the last campaign behind them. They once again have a stellar roster that is fully capable of competing on the biggest stage. In today’s article, we take a look at five players from their roster, who will be key for them during the 2022-23 season.

Ja Morant

Ja Morant was one of the most entertaining players in the NBA last season. His performances included poster dunks, classy layups and some big plays in the clutch. The 23-year-old averaged 27.4 PPG, 5.7 RPG and 6.7 APG. He was in the MVP conversation as he delivered every time he stepped on the court for the Grizzlies. His display helped him win the Most Improved Player of the Season award. The All-Star will now be looking to further elevate his game and help the franchise get beyond the finish line this season.

Desmond Bane

Desmond Bane is one of the best three-point shooting players in the NBA. Last season, the 24-year-old shot 43.6 % from the three-point arc, which was exceptional. Playing off the ball in a team where Ja Morant is the guard, Bane gets a lot of chances where he can show his three-point effectiveness. When the ball was kicked out to him, Bane did an exceptional job and the team expects the same to continue into the 2022-23 season.

Dillon Brooks

Dillon Brooks missed more than half of last season due to injury. Although the team managed to bag wins in his absence, the offense of the Grizzlies runs a lot more fluidly with him on the roster. Brooks is a two-way player, who has proven to be big for the team in his time at Memphis. He will be hoping to continue playing high-octane basketball for the team. The 26-year-old was criticised by the media for his shortcomings in the playoffs last season. Entering the new season, Brooks will be looking to correct those mistakes and become a star in the league.

Jaren Jackson Jr.

Jaren Jackson Jr. is one of the most talented bigs in the NBA. The former Michigan State player led the league in blocks last year. There were high expectations from him coming into the 2022-23 season, but Jackson Jr. will miss up to 6 months of action due to a foot injury. There is still no definite date on his return, but the Memphis Grizzlies will be hoping for his return as he is a vital cog for them. His ability to produce on both ends of the floor is what makes him special. Aside from being a stunning defender, Jaren Jackson can also knock down shots with ease from beyond the arc. If he is able to return from injury at any point this season, the Grizzlies could be a side that makes a deep playoff run.

Steven Adams

Steven Adams is one of the strongest players in the NBA. Since his arrival to the Memphis Grizzlies, Adams has been an integral part of Tylor Jenkins’ lineups. He is a sensational rebounder and his physicality also helps the team get going on both ends of the floor. With Jaren Jackson out for a while, the team will turn to Steven Adams for additional responsibility. If he delivers, the Grizzlies could once again finish as a top-two seed in the West
