The Golden State Warriors were blown out 110-88 by the Boston Celtics as Stephen Curry went off injured. Curry went down with a left foot injury after Marcus Smart lunged into him late in the first half and landed on his leg. Curry was clearly in a lot of pain but hobbled along before exiting the court moments later.

Warriors coach, Steve Kerr reprimanded Smart for his reckless play and said, “I thought it was dangerous play. I thought Marcus dove into Steph’s knee. That’s what I was upset about. Lot of respect for Marcus, he’s a hell of a player, gamer, competitor. I coached him in the World Cup a few summers ago. We talked after the game, we’re good. I thought it was a dangerous play, just let him know.”

This was a tough blow for Curry who two days prior scored 47 points in a 126-112 win over the Wizards. Kerr said Curry was having an MRI scan.

Juan Toscano-Anderson of the Warriors thought that Marcus Smart didn’t want to intentionally injure Curry but could have been more cautious. “I don’t think it was a dirty play,” Toscano-Anderson said. We all know that’s Marcus Smart, though, that’s how he plays, he’s gritty.”

Celtics’ strong defense

Jayson Tatum scored 26 points and had 12 rebounds while Jalen Brown also scored 26 points. Marcus Smart ended the game with 20 points and eight assists.

The Celtics’ defence held the Warriors to 29.3% in the first half and 37.2% overall as they were limited to just 19 assists. Jordan Poole top scored with 29 points. Draymond Green came off the bench for a second straight game as he looks to regain his momentum after coming back from a back injury.

The Celtics have now defeated the Warriors in four straight games in the Bay Area.

Steve Kerr also gave some good news on James Wiseman who returned from his G-League assignment. He hasn’t played since April of last year as he was recovering from right knee surgery.

“The main thing is he’s healthy and he’s moving well and that’s the biggest thing,” Kerr said. “That was our biggest concern going in. Can he build the momentum, sustain it and continue to work on his conditioning, timing and so far, so good. Happy to see him out there.”
