The Detroit Pistons are still struggling to notch up wins, but they’re making some headway during their six-game stint at home. They kicked things off with a 118-112 win against the Brooklyn Nets last Thursday. Although they got trounced by the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, they managed to bounce back with a solid 114-97 victory against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday.

Detroit will aim to keep the ball rolling on Wednesday when they face off against the Toronto Raptors at home. Against Charlotte, Detroit put up one of their strongest defensive performances of the season. They shut down the Hornets, holding them to just 38.6 percent shooting and allowing only four fast-break points.

As always, third-year guard Cade Cunningham was the driving force for Detroit, scoring 22 points and dishing out eight assists. In his 54th game of the season, Cunningham reached 1,200 points and 400 assists, making him the fastest Pistons player to achieve these milestones in a single season.

Injury report

For the Raptors, Barnes (hand injury), Barrett (personal reasons), Poeltl (finger injury), Quickley (hip injury), and Trent (groin injury) will not be playing the game. Besides, Boucher (knee injury) and Carton (ankle injury) are questionable. As for the Pistons, only Thompson is unavailable due to illness.

Key matchups

The Raptors are struggling big time as they approach the end of the season. They’ve been hit hard by injuries, with key starters like Scottie Barnes (hand), Jakob Poeltl (hand), Gary Trent Jr. (groin), and Immanuel Quickley (hip) all out of action.

Despite the setbacks, the remaining Raptors put up a good fight against the defending champs, the Denver Nuggets, on Monday. Toronto even held a 21-point lead in the third quarter but couldn’t withstand the Nuggets’ late surge, ultimately falling 125-119.

Both teams have a win against each other going into the last game of the season series. Toronto dominated at home with a 142-113 victory on Nov. 19, while Detroit managed to snatch a 129-127 win on their home court on Dec. 30.

Since those matchups, both squads have seen significant changes to their rosters. Nine players who were on the court in the last game are no longer with their respective teams.
