The Philly 76ers look like they’re pretty much locked in for the play-in playoffs in the East. But with Joel Embiid back and Tyrese Maxey killing it on the court, there’s still hope they can dodge the play-in altogether. Right now, they’re a game behind the Indiana Pacers for the sixth seed, but they’ve got three games left to make a move.

First up, they’ve got the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday. Detroit’s been struggling big time this season, so it’s a good chance for the Sixers to gain ground. And did you see Maxey’s game on Sunday? He went off for a career-high 52 points, leading the Sixers to a clutch double-overtime win against the San Antonio Spurs. That’s five wins in a row for Philly!

Embiid got a break to give his knee some rest since he played the game before against the Memphis Grizzlies. Maxey, on the other hand, went above and beyond, playing a whopping 54 minutes and practically carrying the Sixers to victory all by himself.

Injury report

For the 76ers, Covington, Embiid, Lowry, and Melton will not be playing the game. Besides, Harris is questionable. As for the Pistons, Fontecchio, Grimes, Stewart, Thompson, and Umude will sit this one out. Moreover, Cunningham could miss this as well.

Key matchups

The Sixers were missing Tobias Harris, Kyle Lowry, De’Anthony Melton, and Robert Covington in the game. Melton and Covington are expected to stay out for a while, but there’s a chance we might see Embiid, Harris, and Lowry back on the court soon.

Detroit’s rolling into Philadelphia on a four-game losing streak. In their last game, the Pistons lost to the Brooklyn Nets 113-103 on Saturday. It was another tough one in a season filled with losses and injuries.

Five Pistons players scored in double digits. Chimezie Metu led the way with 20 points, followed by Marcus Sasser with 18, Jaden Ivey with 16, Troy Brown Jr. with 15, and Jaylen Nowell with 12. Detroit had a solid lead, even up by 19 at one point and by eight after three quarters, but they couldn’t hold on till the end.

Cade Cunningham has been out for the last three games due to soreness in his left knee, but Williams mentioned that he might not be sidelined for the rest of the season.
