The Detroit Pistons haven’t savored a win since the days when trick-or-treaters were still sorting through their candy haul. They’ve been through a gut-wrenching stretch of 17 straight losses, setting a new franchise record for a single season. The last time they clinched a victory was on October 28th.

They’re gearing up for another shot at breaking their losing streak when they face off against the Memphis Grizzlies this Wednesday. The NBA has recently scheduled two games for each team that didn’t make it through the in-season tournament.

The Pistons went through another painful loss at home last Saturday. They were trailing Cleveland by just three points with four minutes left, but couldn’t score until the last 35 seconds, ending up with a 110-101 defeat.

A major highlight was Bojan Bogdanovic, last season’s leading scorer, making a comeback. He played his first game of the season after healing from a calf strain and dropped an impressive 22 points.

Injury report

For the Pistons, Harris and Morris will not be playing the game due to shoulder and muscle injury. As for the Grizzlies, Adams, Clarke, Kennard, LaRavia, and Smart will be sitting this one out due to injuries. Besides, Rose and Williams are questionable to play.

Key matchups

Bogdanovic’s three-point skills take some pressure off Cade Cunningham, who put up 23 points and 11 assists against the Cavs. Cunningham is averaging 22.4 points and 7.3 assists, but he’s also leading the league with 4.4 turnovers.

The Grizzlies snagged back-to-back victories for the first time this season last week, taking down Utah and Dallas. However, in their latest game on Saturday, they fell short against Phoenix with a score of 116-109. Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane have been stepping up and leading the charge in recent matchups.

Jackson notched 20 points, six rebounds, and six blocks in the game against the Jazz. After a game filled with fouls against the Mavs, he came back strong with an impressive 37 points and nine rebounds against the Suns.

The injury-riddled Grizzlies revealed on Monday that they’ve inked Jaylen Nowell for another 10-day stint, leveraging the hardship exception. Memphis is dealing with seven players on the bench due to injuries, and to add to it, star guard Ja Morant is still serving a 25-game suspension.
