The medical team of the New York Knicks is expected to be pretty busy gearing up for Thursday’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. The team’s keeping a close eye on star guard Jalen Brunson’s ankle, trying to figure out if he’ll be good to go. He’s been listed as questionable to face his old team as of Wednesday.

On the flip side, Julius Randle’s dealing with a shoulder issue, OG Anunoby’s got an elbow thing, and Quentin Grimes is nursing a knee injury, so they’ll all be sitting this one out. Tough break.

The Knicks have had a rough go against the Mavericks lately, losing their last three matchups, including a close 128-124 defeat back on Jan. 11 in Dallas. Kyrie Irving went off for 44 points in that game, leading the Mavericks to victory.

But the Knicks bounced back strong on Tuesday, snagging their 10th win in 11 games with a 123-113 triumph over the Memphis Grizzlies. Jalen Brunson was on fire, dropping 27 points before exiting the game in the fourth quarter with a right ankle sprain. Thankfully, early reports suggest it’s nothing too serious.

Injury report

Besides, Brunson (ankle injury), Sims (illness), and Washington (finger injury) are also questionable for the game. As for Mavericks, Exum (knee injury) and Lively (broken nose) will be missing this one out. Also, Kleber can miss the game due to a toe injury.

Key matchups

New York kept their home-court dominance alive, moving to a solid 19-6 record at home by leading from start to finish against Memphis. DiVincenzo stole the show with a whopping 32 points, while Hartenstein and Achiuwa chipped in with 17 each.

Despite being hit hard by injuries, the Knicks have been on fire lately, winning 16 of their last 19 games. Randle’s been sidelined for the past five games due to a shoulder issue, and Anunoby’s been out with elbow problems for the same stretch. And they’re not out of the woods yet—Grimes has been out for the last three games with a bum knee. Despite all the setbacks, Hartenstein says the team’s been handling the challenges like champs.

The Knicks are in the middle of a six-game stretch at home, and next up, they’re facing off against a Dallas squad aiming for their third win in a row. In their last game, Irving put up 36 points while Doncic dominated with 35 points, 18 rebounds, and nine assists, leading the Mavericks to a 119-107 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday.

It was a special game for Irving, as it marked his return to Brooklyn, where he played for the Nets for three and a half seasons before getting traded to Dallas. The crowd gave him a warm welcome throughout the match.
