Cleveland Cavaliers vs New York Knicks: The Knicks beat the Cavaliers 99-79 and take 2-1 lead

With spring knocking at the doors of the USA, the NBA is back in full action at Madison Square Garden with exciting matches. Yesterday was the match day of the New York Knicks against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the ongoing NBA playoffs. The entire series has been a see-saw till now for the Knicks. The first game was won by the Knicks while in the second game, the Cavaliers beat them fair and square. Coming in the third game this weekend was a treat for the fans Knicks as they were able to beat the visiting side fair and square to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

The main scorer for the New York Knicks was Jalen Brunson with his swashbuckling 21 points which helped his team win the game. With a 99-79 victory, the New York Knicks took a 2-1 lead in the first round of the playoff series as RJ Barrett emerged from a scoring funk with 19 points while holding the Cleveland Cavaliers to their lowest score in this season of the NBA.

Tough fight in the Madison Square Garden

The best players of yesterday were Jalen Brunson and RJ Barret from the New York Knicks who scored 21 and 19 points respectively and launched the New York Knicks to a closing victory. There was tension among Knicks fans since their best player Jericho Sims is not playing in the tournament due to his sore shoulder. After the second match when the game opened, it started with a bang for the Knicks since then only the score line was 38-27, not even neck to neck. The offences got going in the third quarter, with both teams shooting above 50% and LeVert scoring 11 points. The Cavs got within single digits before the Knicks closed the period on an 8-0 run to take a 72-55 lead. The match ended with the Knicks beating the Cavaliers 99-79.

Then as the game proceeded the Knicks fan clubs were excited about their victory and Cavs once again marred the happiness of its fan clubs. Although the Cavs put up a fight yet it was overall an easy win for the New York Knicks. The Knicks will be hoping that their centre Mitchell Robinson, who has struggled in each of the series’ first three games, turns in improved performances. Coach Tom Thibodeau will be concerned with Robinson’s performance going into the fourth game. He said that to avoid distractions, he stopped communicating with some of his pals who supported the Knicks and deleted several group conversations. The crowd, which is always welcoming, even turned against the All-Star guard when he missed a 3-pointer in the second quarter, yelling loudly, “Airball! Airball!”

With a 2-1 win in their bag, the Knicks will be looking to seal the deal in the fourth game as they head over to their home court in Madison Square Garden.
