Officially, the February 9 NBA trade deadline is a month away, and the rumors are starting to heat up. Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com recently reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers are “watching” Mavericks veteran shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. in Dallas.

Late Sunday night, NBA reporter Mark Hisstein corroborated this report with his own report. “League sources reaffirmed that Hardaway is indeed available and that it’s basically up to the Cavaliers to accept Hardaway’s two-year, $34.1 million deal beyond this season,” Stein said. “Caris Lebart’s expiring $18.8 million contract comes from a very slow start and is the easiest game for Hardaway, who is 3 points to 40.5% in 21 games played on Sunday lineup.

Hardaway’s situation is delicate because, on the one hand, his contract is unattractive. When he goes missing, the Mabs struggle to make up for it.
