The Chicago Bulls halted the Miami Heat’s seven-game winning streak on Saturday with a spirited comeback in the fourth quarter. Buoyed by this success, the Bulls aspire to harness the momentum and secure back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

On Monday, as Miami pays a second visit in three nights, Chicago, the host, will set its sights on achieving that milestone. Despite the Heat sprinting to a commanding 22-1 lead in the first quarter on Saturday, the Bulls managed a stunning 102-97 comeback victory. Although Miami held the lead until the final minute, the Bulls emerged triumphant.

DeRozan spearheaded the Bulls’ offensive charge with 23 points, and every starter from Chicago reached double figures as they put an end to a three-game slump. Joining DeRozan in the scoring spotlight were Nikola Vucevic with 15 points, Coby White with 14, Zach LaVine with 13, and Alex Caruso with 11.

On two occasions last week, the Bulls came close to orchestrating thrilling comebacks against the visiting Orlando Magic with frenzied finishes. However, lackluster beginnings proved to be their downfall. In both games against Orlando, the Bulls struggled to ignite their offense, scoring only 33 points in the first half. This trend continued on Saturday when they found themselves trailing 50-40 at halftime after missing their first 10 attempts from the floor.

Key matchups

Despite Miami consistently securing victories by single-digit margins throughout its winning streak, the team found itself in a challenging situation on the road. With an 10-point lead and just over eight minutes remaining, the Heat couldn’t withstand Chicago’s comeback. This marked a less-than-ideal start to a five-game road trip, despite the Heat’s prior achievements.

Jimmy Butler led the way for Miami with 25 points, and Duncan Robinson contributed 17 points along with seven assists, showcasing his sharpshooting skills by going 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. Following Monday’s matchup, the Bulls and Heat will conclude the season series with games on December 14 and 16 in Miami.

In recent encounters, Chicago has emerged victorious in the last four meetings between the two teams, contributing to a split in the overall record over the past 10 games.
