The Charlotte Hornets will welcome the Washington Wizards to the Spectrum Center for an NBA preseason game on Monday. The Hornets have had a bad preseason so far losing all their three matches with the latest loss coming at the hands of the Boston Celtics. Boston beat them 112-103 in what was a fairly competitive game. All of Charlotte’s starters started the game with LaMelo Ball scoring 23 points with nine assists and Kelly Oubre dropping 18 points with five rebounds.
Hornets head coach Steve Clifford said after the game, “I think the first quarter, the most inside-out and best pace down the floor. We had a lot of good, sustained segments of good defense, but we’re not disciplined. We’re running around and overhelping, so there are things like that that, in this league, are going to kill you. But our defense, overall, this was by far our best defensive game. So, we were definitely better.”
On the other hand, the Washington Wizards come into this game on the back of a 104-95 loss to the Golden State Warriors. Since it was just their second preseason game, the Wizards sole focus was to give their players as many minutes as possible. All their starters got into double figures with the exception of Kyle Kuzma. Will Barton scored 12 points with Monte Morris Morris and Rui Hachimura dropping 11 points respectively. Kristaps Porzingis top scored for the Wizards with 18 points and also recorded six rebounds.
Bradley Beal will not feature in this game as he has entered the health and safety protocols. The Wizards said that Beal will not feature in the game and will return once he receives clearance under the current NBA guidelines. Beal is fully vaccinated.
