The Orlando Magic have been picking up steam lately, and they don’t plan on slowing down. They’ve got a visit from the Charlotte Hornets lined up for Tuesday night, and if they want a shot at making the playoffs, they’ll need to handle business against teams lower in the standings.

Orlando (40-28) has been on fire, winning eight out of their last ten games, including a 101-89 triumph over Charlotte (17-51) during that stretch. The Magic currently boast a perfect 2-0 record against the Hornets this season, with two more matchups yet to come.

The Magic wrapped up a sweep of the Toronto Raptors with a 111-96 win in Orlando on Sunday night. Paolo Banchero has been leading Orlando in scoring in seven out of the last nine games. He’s even reached the 29-point mark in three of those games.

Key matchups

The Hornets’ record dropped to 2-7 this month after their 109-98 loss to Philadelphia on Saturday. This loss marked the fifth in a row where Charlotte couldn’t break the 100-point mark. With no single go-to player consistently leading the offense, the Hornets are relying on a team effort to generate points.

Point guard Tre Mann tied his season-best performance with 21 points against the 76ers. This was the first time he led Charlotte in scoring, marking another step in his ongoing role filling in for the injured LaMelo Ball.

The Magic and Hornets clashed on March 5, with Orlando snagging a 101-89 victory in Charlotte. Banchero took charge for the Magic with 22 points, while Vasilije Micic led the Hornets with 21 points. However, Charlotte has lost four straight matchups against Orlando.

In that game, almost half of Orlando’s 74 field goal attempts were from beyond the arc, totaling 35 shots. The Magic managed to sink 13 of those attempts.
