The Charlotte Hornets will welcome the Indiana Pacers to the Spectrum Center for an NBA preseason game on Wednesday. The Hornets had a very bad first preseason game as they lost 134-93 to the Boston Celtics. Kelly Oubre top scored for the Hornets with 17 points while LaMelo Ball dropped 14 points with seven rebounds and 4 assists. Terry Rozier and Jalen McDaniels scored 11 and 10 points each as Charlotte were thoroughly outplayed by Boston.
Hornets head coach Steve Clifford said after the game, “We had a good week. We’ve scrimmaged a ton, we haven’t done a lot of details, which obviously showed in the way we played. We have to be more organized against a team like that switching. Moving the defense, moving the ball quicker.”
For the Indiana Pacers, the game against the Hornets will be their first this preseason. They had an abysmal last season where they finished in 13th place in the Eastern Conference with only 25 wins and 57 losses. There was not much to cheer about last season and they will hope to put on a good showing this time around starting with preseason.
With the likes of Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield and Myles Turner, the Indiana Pacers have a very young core of players on paper that they can build their team around. Haliburton has the potential to become their first franchise star after Paul George and in Buddy Hield, they have someone who can shoot the ball at will and can be a guaranteed shooter from deep.
