The Brooklyn Nets will welcome the Philadelphia 76ers to the Barclays Center for an NBA preseason game on Monday. For the Nets, this will be their first game of preseason and they will be raring to go given the mess that ensued in the off season. Retaining the likes of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving is a good thing given how quickly they can turn a game on its head.
There are rumours that Ben Simmons will finally don the Nets jersey for the first time and it will be interesting to see how that pans out and whether he can strike up a connection with KD and Kyrie. If Durant, Kyrie and Simmons do take the court, it will be a sight to behold as those three can be as good as any on their day and it will bode well for Brooklyn going into the regular season.
For the Philadelphia 76ers, things have been on an upward trend ever since James Harden signed his contract extension. The atmosphere around the team seems to be nice and with a fit Joel Embiid and a fully focused James Harden, the 76ers will take some stopping. And to that the likes of Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris and we are talking about the team being contenders come the end of the season.
James Harden recently sat down with Sirius XM Radio and shared what he felt going into the new season. “The past two and a half years, it’s been a struggle for me, because I wasn’t able to be who I knew I am,” said Harden. “So all that in a pile was very frustrating, but you get a full season of health, of working out, and honestly getting back to where I needed to be. We can get to know each other, workouts, and just catch a vibe. Go to dinners or whatnot. So that really helped our team and I feel like it helped me a lot.”
