In their upcoming matchup against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night, the Pelicans aim to rely once again on the scoring prowess of Williamson, Ingram, and McCollum, hoping to maintain their winning streak.
Both Williamson and Ingram notched 26 points each, while McCollum contributed 22 in a convincing 129-109 triumph over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night. In the game against the Utah Jazz three nights prior, Ingram led with 26 points, McCollum added 22, and Williamson contributed 21 in a 112-105 victory at home. Yet, the impact of the formidable trio extends beyond scoring.
Versus the Lakers, New Orleans showcased three additional double-figure scorers in Jonas Valanciunas (13 points), Herbert Jones (13), and Larry Nance Jr. (11). McCollum, with nine assists, along with Ingram (eight) and Williamson (six), not only contributed points but also adeptly facilitated their teammates when they weren’t finding the basket themselves.
For the Pelicans, Ryan will not play the game due to an elbow injury. Besides, Murphy is also questionable for the game due to an ankle injury. As for the Nets, Simmons and Walker will not be available for the game due to hip and hamstring injuries, respectively.
In the last four games, Ingram has achieved a career-long streak of recording two or more blocks. The defense received a significant boost from the bench, with Jose Alvarado contributing four steals along with eight points, three rebounds, two blocks, and one assist.
Conversely, the Nets have struggled to contain opponents in recent times. Suffering a 124-108 defeat against Oklahoma City on Sunday night marked their eighth loss in the last 10 games. Notably, their only victories in this stretch were against Detroit, occurring during the Pistons’ recent 28-game losing streak.
During the eight losses, Brooklyn has conceded an average of 124.3 points per game. Guard Cam Thomas highlighted a notable issue, stating that a lack of trust plays a significant role in the defensive struggles. Nets coach Jacque Vaughn emphasized the crucial need for the team to unite.
In their recent matchup against the Thunder, the Nets permitted a 54.2 percent shooting accuracy from the floor (45 of 83) and faced a deficit of up to 21 points.
