Bradley Beal will miss at least the next two games for the Washington Wizards due to a sprained left wrist, according to the team. The All-Star guard was injured against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday as he attempted to take a charge on Grizzlies big man Jarvis Jackson Jr. and collided with his left arm on the floor. He grasped his wrist right away but continued in the game.

After sitting out Washington’s next two games, Beal will be evaluated further and his condition will be updated. On Tuesday, Beal will miss a game against the Milwaukee Bucks, and on Wednesday, he will miss a game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Following that, the Wizards will play a five-game homestand against the Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat, and Brooklyn Nets. It’s a tough setback for a Washington club that has struggled recently following a good start to the season. With a 23-26 record and an 11th-place finish in the Eastern Conference, the Wizards are now on the outside looking in the play-in round. They’re on a five-game losing run, and missing Beal for two games against two of the best teams in the East isn’t great.

Bradley Beal this Season

This season, Beal is averaging 23.2 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.7 rebounds a night, but he’s having the worst 3-point shooting season of his career, connecting on only 30 percent of his attempts from distance. According to Cleaning the Glass, Beal’s on/off stats have dropped significantly this season, with the Wizards scoring 3.7 points fewer while he’s on the court than when he’s off. When compared to the previous season, while Washington scored 10.7 points more when Beal was on the court, ranking in the 97th percentile, it’s clear that his efficiency has dropped.

However, as the Wizards’ primary scorer, Beal is critical to their offensive success, and losing him for any length of time is a setback. Kyle Kuzma and Spencer Dinwiddie will be given more responsibility to compensate for Beal’s absence and perhaps put a stop to the team’s losing skid.

Regarding Beal’s injury, he won’t be playing in his coming two games. Let’s hope he hits back on court as soon as possible.
