Tampa Bay will aim to get back on track when it goes to Baltimore on Friday night to begin a three-game series. The Rays had dropped four of their previous five games going into the series finale against the Yankees, while Baltimore had lost two of its first three games versus Toronto. Tampa Bay has already struggled to keep up with New York’s blistering pace this season, so it will be difficult for the Rays to overcome their current string of four losses in five games, two of which came against the Yankees.
Baltimore has been hanging around.500 for most of the season, so the team is hoping to avoid falling out of postseason contention before the All-Star break. Last weekend, the Orioles split a four-game series with Kansas City before dropping two of their first three games in Toronto earlier this week. They’ve returned home following an eight-game road trip. Baltimore sits last in the AL East, behind the red-hot Yankees by 20 games. However, the Orioles are only 7.5 games off of the last AL Wild Card place.
