French International Paul Pogba has been axed from the Juventus squad that is set to face SC Freiburg on Thursday for the first leg of the round of 16 tie in the UEFA Europa League. Reports from a club source have told AFP that the star player has been dropped due to some “disciplinary reasons”.

Pogba has been injured for a long time since arriving from Manchester United in the summer transfer window way back in August and has been without action for the majority of the season. Due to his knee injury, he also missed the FIFA World Cup held last year in Qatar with his country making it into the finals.

Last week Pogba made his return to football and rather his second debut with the Italian club as a substitute in the victory against Torino. There have been talks that the manager, Massimiliano Allegri had axed the midfielder out for this match as he arrived late to the team meeting on Wednesday.

What did journalist Fabrizio Romano say about this situation?

Paul Pogba injured the meniscus in his right knee way back in July and had to operate on his knee which kept him out of the game for a long time. And having not been selected in the squad for the Europa League matchup against SC Freiburg, fans were fearing that the midfielder might have injured himself again.

But Fabrizio Romano tweeted later on the day, “Paul Pogba has not been called up for Europa League game vs Freiburg due to disciplinary reasons. No new injuries — but Pogba arrived late yesterday evening and he won’t be part of Juventus list.”
