The IPL is arguably the biggest sporting event in India, with fans from all parts of the country participating in the cash-rich league’s Fantasy league. The Fantasy league has generated considerable buzz on social media over the years, with fans engrossed in debates and discussions about players underperforming or exceeding expectations. This often pulls in fans who have not yet tried out the IPL Fantasy league, which makes watching each game that much more exciting.

The upcoming edition of the Fantasy League features a litany of fresh features. These include boosters, free uncapped transfers, match level transfers and badges. Here’s a look at all the interesting aspects of the game:

CREATING A TEAM

A player will be provided with 100 credits to create a team of 11 players from different IPL franchises. They have to select 1-4 wicket-keepers, 3-6 batsmen, 1-4 all-rounders and 3-6 bowlers. There can be a maximum of seven players from each IPL team, and no more than four overseas players. A captain and vice-captain is also chosen, with the duo giving 2x and 1.5x points respectively. After the team sheets for a game are out following the toss, a manager can judge whether his player is a part of the starting XI based on the green dot beside him.

TRANSFERS

A manager will have a total of 120 transfers over the course of the tournament. 110 will be available during the league stage and 10 will be available during the playoffs. Transfer count from the league stage will not be carried forward to the playoffs. A manager can make unlimited transfers during their first match and for the first match of the playoffs. One free uncapped player transfer will be available for every match, and the captain and vice-captain can be changed as much as desired.

POINTS SYSTEM

For batsmen, each run earns one point. On top of that, there are bonuses. Boundary bonus is one point. Six bonus is two points. The bonus for 30 runs is four points. The half-century bonus is eight points, with a century bonus of 16 points. Dismissal for a Duck results in the deduction of two points.

For bowlers, the points system is more rewarding. A wicket, barring a run-out, earns 25 points. On top of that, there are bonuses here as well. Bowled or lbw bonus is eight points. The three-wicket haul bonus is four points, with a four-wicket haul bonus eight points. A five-wicket haul bonus is 16 points, with a maiden over bonus of 12 points.

For fielders, a catch earns eight points, a stumping or a direct run-out earns 12 points. An indirect run-out earns six points each to the thrower and catcher.

A player will also earn four points if he is selected in the starting XI.

LEAGUES

One can join a global league, their favourite side’s league, or a private league after saving their team for the first time. A player can also create his own league.
