The Alpine F1 team have announced their driver line-up for the 2022 seasons of Formula 2 and Formula 3. Four names were mentioned by the team in their announcement on Monday (February 14).

Jack Doohan and Olli Caldwell will race for them in F2; whereas Victor Martins and Caio Collet will race for them in F3.

“We are only measured by our success on track and our goal as an Academy is always to win the Championships our drivers are competing in. Jack is fresh from finishing as runner-up in Formula 3 showing his raw speed in the Championship and again in his debut in Formula 2 last year,” said Alpine Academy Director Mia Sharizman.

“While Olli comes into the Academy after a solid year in F3 where he managed four podium finishes and a race win.

“We accept it might take a few races for the two of them to adjust to their new surroundings; but we’re confident they will hit the ground running towards the second half of the season.

“For Victor and Caio, they know it’s time to deliver and fight for the F3 title this season after a strong first year in the series.

“They’ve been part of the Academy for four years and have shown strong development in every season. Victor won his first race last year and Caio scored some strong results.

“We are excited for both seasons to start next month.”

Who are the new young drivers at Alpine?

Australian racer Doohan was signed by Formula 2 outfit Virtuosi Racing in December 2021. The 19-year-old is the son of five-time Moto GP World Champion Mick Doohan.

He finished second to F3 Champion Dennis Hauger last year. He was on the winning end of a race four times and notched up seven podiums in total.

Caldwell has also joined the academy for 2022; he will sign with Campos Racing in the second tier.

The British 19-year-old spent the 2021 campaign with PREMA Racing in F3. There he won one race and scored four podiums, ending the season eighth overall.

Martins was the highest placed rookie in F3 last season; he will switch from MP Motorsport to ART Grand Prix for his second year in the third tier.

Caio Collet, on the other hand, will remain with the Dutch squad for a second season in F3.
