Williams drivers Alexander Albon and Nicholas Latifi have reacted to the new livery the car that is set to be revealed when the team launches their car.

The British team will be showing off their new car for the first time on February 15. And they uploaded a video of Albon and Latifi discussing the new livery.

“That’s different. That’s actually really cool. Fresh! I think I used that word last year, but I think it applies more to this year,” said the Canadian driver.

“I think it’s going to look nice under the lights, nice in photos.

“There’s a new colour involved here, which I’m a fan of. I think it highlights some very cool features on the car. A bit of a different pattern as well, from what we’ve normally used.”

Albon added that the new colour scheme is both simple as well as ‘more Williams’.

“I like it. I would say it’s more Williams. It is more simple in terms of the colour scheme. There’s a little bit of **** in it. I like the **** in it,” he said in the video. The audio was edited so as to not reveal the colour.

How will Williams fare in 2022?

2021 was a relatively good season for team founded by the legendary Frank Williams. 2019 and 2020 saw the team struggle as one of the slowest cars on the grid.

However, they scored 23 points in 2021 – including a podium finish for George Russell at the farcical Belgian GP.

But the year 2022 is a new start for the team in more ways than one. Not only are new owners Dorlington Capital more accustomed to running the team, but they have also lost Russell to Mercedes.

In his place they have signed Albon, a driver with plenty of pace but whose F1 career till this point has been plagued with inconsistency.

What’s more, he is also coming back into the sport after a year out. He lost his Red Bull drive at the end of 2020 and spent the next year as the team’s reserve driver.

Whether he can quickly re-adapt to life as a full-time racer will be key to any success Williams get. There’s also the small matter of how Latifi does.

The Canadian is a decent driver and has shown improvement over the last season. However, he is seen by many as solid yet unspectacular; the team will need more than that to become a consistent points scoring side again.
