But the fact that the pupils of Furin High School are heroes in their hometown is something he fails to mention. The students had angrily claimed the town as their own two years earlier, vowing to punish anybody who dared to set foot inside.

The series takes a humorous turn, giving Haruka a new and distinct task. Things go wrong even before he steps foot in a classroom for the first time. People in the town treat him with friendliness instead of criticism, which surprises and embarrasses him. Those who are eager to lend him a hand do not necessarily assume the worst of him.

Given that all of their heroes resemble him in appearance and demeanor, why would they? We only meet Haruka and a handful of the other major characters. We only meet one other character, Kotoha Tachibana (Ikumi Hasegawa), and she serves mostly as an audience insert. She presents and expands upon the world-building. It veers slightly toward writing that is heavy on exposition.

When Kotoha notes that Haruka isn’t intentionally alone, it becomes very clear. Despite past disappointments, she says he continues to have faith in other people. A more appropriate course of action would have been to gradually refine this piece of knowledge. Whatever the case may be, it does set the stage for some of the episode’s more subtly entertaining moments.
