Along with the announcement of the format change, Riot confirmed that this would necessitate the need for two Victorious skins annually rather than the single skin currently given to players who have achieved Gold or higher by the end of the season. In addition, all players can now earn the Victorious skins simply by participating in ranked matches, though those with gold or lower will need to grind a large number of matches to be qualified for the skins.

When the second split starts, players will also need to complete another round of placement games, but Riot has said that the MMR reset for this half of the season won’t be as significant as it typically is, so it shouldn’t take long for players to reach the rank they ended the first split at.

The 2023 season’s first split, which started in January, will end on July 17 at 11:59 p.m. CT, according to a recent announcement from Riot. A week or so after this end date, players will probably receive rewards based on the rank they finished the split at, as it has been with all previous seasons.

However, players won’t be able to resume the League’s ranked climb right away. Players will have an entire day to rest or hone their skills in the game’s other modes before the second split of the year starts on July 19 at 12 p.m. CT.
