You’ve been greeted with drastically different ranks after spending hours waiting for your friends to connect online and partying it up in VALORANT for some ranked action. While you’re stuck in Silver, perhaps a friend has already reached Diamond. Do not be alarmed; we will inform you of the VALORANT ranks that can be combined.

To roughly describe each player’s skill level, Riot Games divides its enormous player base into a number of ranks. You will be able to play with your higher-level friends because Riot, fortunately, does take some exceptions into account—but only to a certain extent. Fairness in a competitive environment is primarily the topic at hand. To ensure that everyone enjoys their ranked matches, Riot takes specific measures.

For the purpose of maintaining fair play, VALORANT uses ranks. While you might think you should be able to play with your Ascendant friends, a lower-level Silver will be completely destroyed the moment they enter a higher-level server. Due to this, Riot forbids some ranks from playing with others. Not only is it unfair to you, but it’s also unfair to your teammates who must pick up the slack. Not to mention the fact that someone much higher in rank than you thrashes your opponents.

One benefit of ranked queueing is that you can queue up regardless of rank if you have a full stack of five people. Therefore, try to fill the party as much as possible if you know there will be some disparity between you and another person in the group.

Parties of up to five people of any rank may queue together when wearing a valorant. The only restriction is that, if you are a premade 5-player stack, you will incur a rank rating (RR) penalty and experience longer queue times, so you will not be able to gain fewer rank rating points.

But if you’re struggling to get a fifth, your ranks will impact your chances. Here’s who you’ll be able to play with in VALORANT:

  • Bronze and Iron can play with Silver ranks
  • Silver can play with anyone until they go beyond Gold
  • Gold can only play with ranks as high as Platinum
  • PlatinumAscendantImmortal, and Radiant can only play with teammates who are one tier away from their own.
