To resolve Scandinavian beef disputes, Riot introduces the Northern Showdown:

The challenge was announced on July 28 by Swedish streamer Peak via Reddit, inviting participants to the Northern Showdown Discord, where interested players can form teams in advance. Peak hinted that one of the challenges’ inspirations was the recent release of the Scandinavian agent Breach from Sweden, in contrast to the Norwegian agent Deadlock. Peak made fun of the fact that “Norway has always been in Sweden’s shadow,” a situation that hasn’t changed despite the addition of an agent to VALORANT.

Due to the two nations’ numerous internal and external disagreements in VALORANT, as well as their close geographic proximity, it is simple to gather players on one server for this enjoyable challenge. It’s exciting that the challenge will also include an offline element.

The first two official match days are scheduled for August 3 and 4, with August 5 being the “LAN” day. In contrast to Team Sweden, who will play at the Red Bull Gaming Sphere in Stockholm, Team Norway will compete from the 00NATION headquarters in Oslo.

Players have already started cooperating and practicing with one another until then on the Discord server. Players from countries outside of Scandinavia are welcome to take part, just in case you don’t reside in Sweden or Norway. However, the games will be hosted on those servers, and the competitions will take place in the capital cities of each country. Scandinavians living abroad might be tempted to join in the fun if they don’t mind having a high ping to a European server.
