The official website for The Faraway Paladin (Saihate no Paladin) light novel series has announced that the anime’s second season will debut in the fall of 2023. Alongside this announcement, the website also revealed the show’s first promotional video, main cast, main staff, and teaser visual. The second season is titled Saihate no Paladin: Tetsusabi no Yama no Ō (The Faraway Paladin: The King of the Iron Rust Mountain).
The second season of The Faraway Paladin has undergone some changes in terms of the production team. Akira Iwanaga, known for directing The Morose Mononokean and Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee, is the new director for the anime. OLM and Sunrise Beyond will be producing the anime, whereas Children’s Playground Entertainment animated the first season.
Shōya Chiba is joining the cast as the adult voice of Will, while Maki Kawase will continue to voice the young child and boy version of Will, reprising her role from the first season. Other returning cast members include Ayumu Murase as Menel, Eri Suzuki as Robina Goodfellow (Bee), Koji Yusa as Tonio, Kenji Nomura as Reystov, Minoru Inaba as Bart Bagley, Atsushi Tamaru as Ethelbald, Aoi Yūki as Gracefeel, Katsuyuki Konishi as Blood, Yui Horie as Mary, and Nobuo Tobita as Gus.
Tatsuya Takahashi will once again oversee the series scripts, and Tatsuya Arai is the new character designer, joining returning character designer Koji Haneda. The music will be composed by Ryuuichi Takada and Keigo Hoashi from MONACA.

The Faraway Paladin is a light novel series by Kanata Yanagino, and J-Novel Club is releasing the novels and Mutsumi Okuhashi’s manga adaptation in English. The story follows a human child named Will who is raised by three undead creatures: the skeletal warrior Blood, the mummified priestess Mary, and the spectral sorcerer Gus. Will wonders about his identity and seeks to unravel the mysteries of the dead man’s land and the pasts of the undead. He must learn about the good gods’ love and mercy and the bad’s bigotry and madness. The story’s first season premiered in October 2021, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.
