And it seems that the wait is almost over, as a new announcement is set to be revealed on March 21.
The official English Twitter account for the Solo Leveling anime recently teased that “A New Level Begins” on March 21 at 7 AM PDT. The tweet did not reveal much, but it was enough to get fans excited about the upcoming announcement. Fans have been waiting for any news about the anime, as little information has been disclosed since the announcement of the adaptation. The only materials fans have seen so far are a 2022 teaser trailer and character art designs for Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-in.
The Solo Leveling anime adaptation will be produced by A-1 Pictures, known for their work on Nier: Automata Ver1.1a and Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. Shunsuke Nakashige will be directing the anime, having previously worked as the animation director for Restaurant to Another World and as episode director for Sword Art Online: Alicization. The script will be written by Noboru Kimura, known for his work on Mobile Suit Gundam Age, Persona 5 the Animation, and Skate-Leading Stars. Tomoko Sudo, who worked on Alice in Borderland, Blue Exorcist, and Spy x Family, will be designing the characters. Hiroyuki Sawano, the composer for Attack on Titan and Blue Exorcist, will be composing for the anime.
Set in a world where powerful human beings known as Hunters protect humankind from monsters, Solo Leveling follows the story of Sung Jinwoo, who is known as the weakest Hunter alive and constantly injures himself. During a Double Dungeon raid, he is abandoned by the rest of the Hunters in his party and is on the brink of death. However, he gets the opportunity of a lifetime: become a Player in the System and level up, without any limitations, to become the strongest Hunter in the world.

Tragically, Dubu, the artist behind the webcomic’s illustrations, died in July 2022 due to a brain haemorrhage. However, his legacy still lives on in Solo Leveling even after his death. REDICE Studio revealed that side stories for Solo Leveling will be released in January 2023. Those who worked with Dubu, known affectionately as “disciples,” will illustrate and publish the stories, dedicating them to the late artist.
