“Format changes are coming [for MSI and Worlds],” Aleta said. “When we heard the feedback last year of the tournaments and all the world championships, this season we took really dige into it , and really start accessing what the parts of the format were all the working , what all parts we could use improvement in.

We are working with our all our regional teams around the world in the tournament and world championship to beat what these formats can and should be easy for some team and hard for some teams.”Aletha did not elaborate on the specific changes that will take place at the two tournaments, but did say that updates and more information will be provided by the start of the season.

On the other hand, however, Riot president John Needham delivered disappointing news to some supporters, confirming that the knockout phase of the Worlds will remain a single elimination next year.”At the end of the day, the world is one of the biggest sporting events on the planet,” Needham said. “All the biggest sporting events on the planet have single elimination as a core part of their tournament, and at least ahead of knockout, we will continue with single elimination because it keeps the stakes at the highest level.”

This may overwhelm many fans, who believe that the double-elimination style format provides the best story possible for teams to pursue the Cinderella storyline to the championship. It also gives teams a second chance at life if they are thrown early in the stage in a final level matchup. Still, fans can only hope that these format changes provide a good step towards a better experience at the biggest league events of the year. Literally not a single person in the industry has come out to say they prefer single elim Except the people at the top
