GODLIKE STALWART (SOUTH ASIA) :

At the start of the year, no one would have expected that a team from South Asia would be one of the favorites to become the PUBG Mobile World Champions. However, the godlike stalwart has proved his detractors wrong with stellar performances throughout the year.

They won both seasons of the PMPL South Asia Championship – demonstrating their regional superiority while growing an appetite to perform on the international stage. And performing on the international stage is exactly what he has done. They finished third in the PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2022, making it one of the highest finishes for a South Asian team in an international tournament.

What really placed them as a team with a great chance of a trophy, however, was their performance in the PMGC group stage.Stalwart was placed in Group Green – “The Group of Death” at the tournament. In fact, all three teams in this article belonged to this group. It featured two-time defending world champion Nova, reigning Thai PMWI champion Vampire, as well as several other regional champions.

The stalwarts’ draw in the group stage came as a boon for them as they showed why they are a force to be reckoned with. An impressive and consistent performance saw them top the group and make it to the PMGC Grand Finals. A similar performance in the three-day final will surely fetch them the trophy and become the first South Asian team to do so.

NOVA ESPORTS (CHINA) :

The name Nova has become almost synonymous with PUBG Mobile esports – and for good reason. The team created history last year when they became the first two back-to-back world champions by winning the PMGC 2021. This is a huge achievement for a team. The team, which still consists of mostly the same players since its roster debut in 2020, hasn’t slowed down on its dominant performance.

This season they finished third and second respectively in the two seasons of the Peacekeeper Elite League (PEL). A notable mention for the squad will be the PUBG Mobile Regional Clash (PMRC) in September, which pitted two of the strongest regions namely China and SEA against each other. Nova Esports finished second. In the PMGC group stage, he was in Group Green along with Stalwarts. While they could not win, they lost first place by only four points – something that can be blamed on luck in the BR title. Can Nova Esports pull it off? only time will tell.

VAMPIRE ESPORTS (THAILAND) :

It is only fitting to end this article with the Thai team. Thailand has been making headlines in PUBG Mobile esports throughout the year. Vampire Esports has been at the center of this.Vampire won the PMWI 2022 in Saudi Arabia. He topped the afterparty showdown a week later with another first place finish.

While this was the highlight of his year, the second half of 2022 hasn’t been the best for him. They finished only 6th in PMPL Thailand Fall and 13th in PMPL SEA Championship. However, the team seems to be on a redemption arc based on their performance in the PMGC league. After finishing fifth in Group Green, they finished third in the Survival Stage. He did not lose his consistency and finished second in the last chance qualifier to make it to the PMGC Grand Finals a few days later. The team showed at the start of the year what they can do against international teams. After a brief period of disappointment, they will surely try to redeem themselves and the Thai region.
