The chapter starts with Tatsumaki talking on the phone with some Hero Association representatives who are trying to talk her into doing a commercial to help recruit new heroes into the association. At first, she’s reluctant, but eventually agrees to act out like cute and bubbly, which is not her personality, but she eventually turns on the charm and goes ahead with the commercial.
However, the focus of the chapter shifts to a brand new character and hero in the story named Axel, who is being approached by a Hero Association representative with an offer to join the Hero Association as an S-Class member. Axel is part of a vigilante group called The Hunters, which has a few hundred members being welcomed into the Hero Association in B and C Class roles. Axel doesn’t seem too keen on the idea and pushes back, stating how little trust there is in the Hero Association nowadays with how out of control the S-Class heroes are. Specifically, Tatsumaki and Dr. Kuseno are being scrutinized for causing destruction during their recent battles.
Axel calls the Hero Association a sham, and this sentiment is trickling over to other hero candidates. The chapter introduces another new character, the hero Sumo Wrestling Superstar Raiden. He is being approached by yet another Hero Association representative who is trying to recruit him to the Hero Association as an S-Class hero.
The Hero Association is in dire need of new blood to pump some new charisma and hope into their ranks, as their numbers are dwindling fast, and trust is at an all-time low. The scrutiny of the Hero Association is causing before to zero in on Saitama, and the chapter ends with the possibility that Saitama may have a deeper distaste for the Hero Association.
One Punch Man Chapter 184 is jam-packed with new characters and the Hero Association’s decline. The possibility of Saitama leaving the association adds an interesting twist to the story. However, the introduction of new characters and a new hero organization that threatens the Hero Association’s existence leaves readers eager for the next chapter.
