One Piece Chapter 1048 Raw Scan were finally released earlier today, and with them came some interesting developments for the Onigashima Raid. Given the events of One Piece Chapter 1048, it appears that the beginning of the end of the Onigashima raid has finally arrived. If this is the beginning of the end of the Onigashima Raid, author Eiichiro Oda appears to have changed his mind about Luffy and Kaido’s fight from a statement he made several years ago. However, it’s entirely possible that this is a ruse by Oda and that One Piece Chapter 1048 does not officially mark the end of the Raid. One Piece Chapter 1048’s fiery clash suggests beginning of end for Onigashima Raid

The plot of One Piece Chapter 1048 picks up right where the previous issue left off. Luffy has instructed Momonosuke to move Onigashima out of the way, to which he responds that it is impossible. He begins to say it’s not possible, but then recalls his mother, father, and childhood sister as he hears a voice reassuring them of his ability to resurrect the Kozuki clan. This appears to provide Momonosuke with the impetus he requires, as he begins pushing Onigashima with his dragon-form body. Meanwhile, Kaido and Luffy are staring each other down, preparing to attack. The former reminds the latter that Wano’s hero died in a fire 20 years ago, as his body catches fire.

The new Flaming Drum Dragon technique allows Kaido to cover his body in flames so hot that contact ignites and melts part of the Skull Dome. He tells Luffy that this has been a lawless land since Oden’s death, and that the people have been waiting for “you saviours” to appear all this time. Kaido then tells him that his right hand will not fall because he will vaporise it. He responds by mocking Kaido and remembering Boss Hyogoro teaching him to use Ryuo for contactless attacks. As a result, his hand will not be vaporised, allowing Luffy to launch his attack with confidence. This not just for One Piece Chapter 1048 Raw Scan.

Luffy’s offensive is a Gum-Gum Bajrang Gun, and Kaido’s is a Rising Dragon Blazing Bagua. The former’s attack alludes to Bajrang Bali, the Hindu monkey god who may have inspired Sun Wukong. The kanji used for Luffy’s attack means “Monkey King,” which adds to his monkey deity motif.

One Piece Chapter 1048: Inside the Skull Dome

The perspective shifts to inside the Skull Dome, where Usopp and Hamlet are seen resting with Kin’emon and Okiku. The former appears to have dropped the latter unintentionally and apologises while pleading for their survival. Meanwhile, other samurai seen throughout the castle cheering for Luffy, saying they’re counting on him to finally finish Kaido. As one samurai declares that their nightmare will not end until the latter is driven from Wano, Kawamatsu begins to recall the day of Oden’s execution. His flashback begins right after Oden’s death, when he and the other retainers flee for their lives. Meanwhile, Orochi tells Kaido that they’d only go to Kuri right now to protect Momonosuke’s life as the heir of the Kozuki clan. Kaido says he’ll take care of Oden’s child himself.

At this point, the citizens of Wano appear to rush up to Kaido, pleading with him for mercy and pleading with them to stop hunting the Kozuki clan. In response, the captain of the Beast Pirates swings his kanabo, injuring the group without hesitation. Meanwhile, Orochi orders the Beast Pirates to shoot “any vermin who dares to defy their shogun.” The next panel depicts Oden Castle in flames, with unknown voices discussing Toki Kozuki’s death in Bakura Town. One of the voices claims that no one else was seen fleeing the ruins of Oden Castle, prompting the other to cheerfully declare that the Kozuki line is officially extinct.

Meanwhile, Orochi and Kaido confront the Daimyos of Udon, Ringo, Hakumai, and Kibi, asking whether they will cooperate or wage war. They respond by stating that their answer is obviously the latter, refusing to recognise any Shogun who is not a Kozuki. The four men and their soldiers rush a dragon-form Kaido in a panel that mirrors the Akazaya Nine confronting Kaido.

However, a few Boro Breaths from Kaido appear to completely wipe out their forces, prompting Orochi to laugh and say that calling them samurai would be an insult. One of the fighters curses Orochi for having Kaido on his side, while another advises him to keep quiet because the Shogun has ears everywhere. The enslavement of Wano is then depicted, with presumably Orochi ordering unseen soldiers to track down and bring every able-bodied young man to the weapons factories. He goes on to say that the entire country will be turned into a weapons factory as images of families being torn apart and waters being polluted are shown.

A polluted, desolate Wano is seen in a wide-shot panel as a mother and child curse crop failure and a lack of food. Meanwhile, men are being worked to death in prisons while being told that no one will come to save them. Meanwhile, the men continue to believe Lady Toki’s words.

In a cruel joke, Orochi then mocks some citizens for eating defective smiles out of hunger before telling the rest of Ebisu town to do the same. He emphasises how their bellies will remain empty, but as their loved ones die, all they will be able to do is laugh. As Kawamatsu’s flashback concludes, he describes it as the “ideal fate” for this country’s pests.

One Piece Chapter 1048: Unexpected return and final pages

The ending of this flashback is parlayed into the present day Orochi, who is on fire and cursing Hiyori Kozuki in One Piece Chapter 1048. As he’s engulfed in flames in his Devil Fruit Zoan form, he tells her she shouldn’t have underestimated the Kurozumi clan’s wrath. As an unknown person draws their sword and comments on things getting out of hand, he says he’ll see her in hell and that they can drink together down there. Denjiro appears in a beautiful set of panels and slices off Orochi’s head, hopefully killing the Shogun for good this time.

The two panels that follow show happy Wano citizens at the Fire Festival, with one sky lantern reading, “Please make Orochi disappear.” These are followed by panels depicting Orochi’s head dropping, Komurasaki’s relieved expression, and more Wano citizens at the Fire Festival, as well as a stern-looking Denjiro.

A final panel depicts a shot of two legible sky lanterns, one with the words “free us from this hell” and the other with the words “give me a sip of clean water.” The next panel of One Piece Chapter 1048 shows Luffy and Kaido starting their fight, as the two stare each other down in the chapter’s final panels. There will be no series break next week.

Final Verdict in One Piece Chapter 1048 Raw Scan

One Piece Chapter 1048 is a fantastically written chapter that accomplishes a slew of important goals as the Onigashima Raid, presumably, nears its conclusion. Orochi appears to have died, the actions of Kaido and Orochi, as well as their impact on Wano citizens, have been recounted, and the citizens’ desire for freedom has been reaffirmed. Furthermore, the appearance of Kaido’s new form in One Piece Chapter 1048 is a necessary goal for the raid’s completion. The only thing One Piece Chapter 1048 did not do, which is required before the raid’s conclusion, is begin Kaido’s backstory. However, it’s very likely that this will start sometime in the next few chapters.
