Fans immediately assumed they were getting some kind of update on the long-rumored Project L, a League-based fighting game that Riot first teased nearly four years ago. Riot Games today released a new League of Legends teaser trailer, leading fans to believe they were getting that. The teaser video appears to be for a different set of in-game skins, a fictional event, and the much-teased two-vs-two-vs-two-vs-two deathmatch mode that has been in the works for a while.

The tournament, which is hosted by the occult being known as God’s Eye, draws notable individuals from all over Runeterra to a showdown in the middle of the arena. The 19th featured game mode will be made available to League’s clients during the event. In League, TFT, and Wild Rift, players will be able to play in Arena, Soul Brawl, and Tag Duel, whereas Legends of Runeterra players will have the chance to acquire a new event pass and new cosmetics for their decks.

Because of the teaser’s gladiator-focused themes, some online fans briefly thought that it might be for Project L and that Soul Fighter was the game’s official name. As a result, the internet quickly realized that the trailer was actually for an in-game event that would take place in four Riot games: League, Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics, and Legends of Runeterra.

Additionally, until August 28th, 20% of the revenue from Soul Fighter Samira, the Soul Fighter Event Pass, and all associated League bundle sales will be donated to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. The six-week Soul Fighter event kicks off on July 20th across the globe and ends on August 28th.
