Even though crossplay is a key feature of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, not everyone enjoys playing against PC players on the Xbox or PlayStation. Fortunately, Activision’s developers have made it simple to disable this feature on all gaming platforms. Although crossplay has improved gaming, unfair advantages are the last thing any player wants.

Some players want the feature turned off even though it’s great if you want to play against or against players on other platforms. You only compete against players using the same input method when you limit yourself to a single platform, which makes games more enjoyable and fair. If you need more information about Modern Warfare 2: How to turn off crossplay in the game, then read carefully, and don’t forget to share with your friends.

Both PC players and controller users don’t want their games to be ruined by players with huge mousepads or aim-assist. There is a solution to this fair complaint. If you own a PlayStation, you can disable cross-play in Modern Warfare 2. However, cross-play for PC and Xbox users cannot be disabled in Modern Warfare 2. If you use an Xbox, there is a workaround you can use; however, if you use a PC, you are out of luck.

How to turn off crossplay on PlayStation and PC

  1. Once MW2 has started, go to the menu in the top right-hand corner
  2. Keep going right until you find the settings
  3. Scroll down to “Account and Network”
  4. Change “Crossplay” to off
  5. Restart your game to make sure it’s kicked into gear

How to turn off crossplay on Xbox:

  1. Press the home button on your Xbox controller.
  2. Head to Settings and then go to General.
  3. Press Online Safety & Family on the screen and head to Privacy & Online Safety.
  4. Head to Xbox Privacy and move to View Details & Customize.
  5. Go to Communication & Multiplayer and then move to Join Cross-network Play.
  6. Set Join Cross-network Play on “Block.”
  7. Hard quit CoD: MW2 and restart your Xbox.

Cross-play can be disabled, but doing so may result in longer queue times and a less enjoyable gaming experience. Leaving cross-play enabled makes it much easier to find matches, and skill-based matchmaking (SBMM), which draws players from a much larger pool, can also be more accurate. Depending on your preferences, you should either enable or disable the feature. You might think about disabling cross-play if you don’t want to play with friends from other platforms.

When you reload MW2 and select multiplayer, a screen asking for your Microsoft password will appear. On the following screen, you can choose to allow or disable crossplay after entering your password. You can search for online games with crossplay disabled by selecting “cancel.”

After using this workaround, players have been able to join online lobbies, but many are dissatisfied with how difficult the process is and wish the developers would include a crossplay on/off switch in the MW2 menu on Xbox. At this time, it’s unclear whether Infinity Ward intends to give Xbox and PC users access to such a feature.
