New cards from the “Big in Japan” season of Marvel Snap’s August release are based on the narrative arc of Wolverine’s journey through the Land of the Rising Sun. One of them is Lady Deathstrike, a destructive and game-changing card that has already won over players’ admiration.
A five-cost, three-power card called Lady Deathstrike has the ability to destroy all other cards in the area where she is placed if they have less power than her. According to the written rules, this power can be useful to simply get rid of low-cost cards with little power, whether they are on your side or the other player’s. However, Lady Deathstrike’s Power must increase for her to reach her full potential, potentially turning her into a card wrecker in the process.
On August 15, Reddit user NickLess- posted a video showing Lady Deathstrike’s destructive abilities. Arnim Zola and Knull’s cost and power were switched in this clip because of the user’s successful activation of Mister Negative’s impact. Because of this, the user was able to play both cards on turn six as well as Lady Deathstrike in a position where Wong and Shuri were put, increasing Lady Deathstrike’s Power to 12.

The fact that Lady Deathstrike eliminates any cards with less than 12 Power already alters the course of the game. However, the Arnim Zola play, which destroyed and called forth two instances of Lady Deathstrike in the other two places, made things more exciting. This resulted in the card’s effect being activated twice more in the two different locations, wiping out all cards with less than 12 Power and leaving the opponent with just one copy of America Chavez.
Another video was uploaded by user TTMGaming on August 15 in which Mister Negative’s power changed Lady Deathstrike into a three-cost, five-Power card. She was placed in a Wong and Shuri location on turn six, bringing her Power to 20. All cards in the Asteroid location with less than 20 Power were destroyed by this.
Thanks to the damage done by Lady Deathstrike, the user was subsequently able to play Knull with a powerful 35 Power in the appropriate spot. The opponent only created six, zero, and four-Power sites as opposed to TTMGaming’s eight, 32, and 38-Power locations, hence they were able to win in all three of those spots and thus win the game.
Both users received appreciation from the community, with some even asking for better animation effects for Lady Deathstrike to match her immense power potential. When cards work well together, players can really maximize a card’s potential. However, given how skillfully players may use Lady Deathstrike’s destruction effect, this could also be a doorway for a potential nerf in the near future.
